Lorna:

Did anyone mentioned "The World, the Flesh, and the Devil" with Harry
Belafonte, Inger Stevens & Mel Ferrer. About two people alone after a
nuclear holocaust (Belafonte & Stevens) developing a relationship and
then another man (Ferrer), a white man comes on the scene. It's been a
while since I've seen it but I believe a major portion of it's message
relates to race.

Also, Harold D. Rennie mentioned another Star Trek episode. The title of
the specific episode was "Plato's Stepchildren" and the actress who
played Uhura was Nichell Nichols. And he is correct, the kiss in that
episode between Kirk and Uhura was considered quite controversial and has
been cited as the first interracial kiss on television.
