Lorna--

You might want to consider checking out some of the first or second
season Twilight Zone installments (available on video from most home video
distributors). One of the pet hobby-horses of Serling and his writers
was the notion of "Otherness"--with obvious reference to civil rights
issues of the time. The Planet of the Apes films were also a pretty
obvious riff on race...

If you're gonna consider expanding the program beyond Sci Fi to horror
and other related genres, you could think about Night of the Living Dead,
with its strong African American protagonist and ending imagery straight
out of 1960 Mississippi...

Sounds like a cool potential program... Send the list your final play list.
