24 people confirmed their interest in attending the VRT dinner at City
Lights of China Friday, Feb. 14 in Washington, DC - at the start of
the ALA Midwinter Meeting. When I called the restaurant to give a final
number of attendees, the manager just about croaked. My original estimate
(based on prior dinners) was 10-16. I was told 24 is too many for a 7:00
reservation on a friday night (Valentines Day no less). It is doable at
6:30 however so it was necessary to change the reservation to that time.
REPEAT, ALA-VRT DINNER IS NOW SCHEDULED FOR 6:30pm NOT 7:00pm - and this
is one time that being fashionably late is taboo, in fact being a little
early would be considered very cool.
Apologies for not predicting this more accurately. So if you cannot make
it by 6:30pm, let me know ASAP and I will try to make a separate
reservation a little later.
