I am constantly amazed at the variations that I had not thought of
when I felt I had surveyed everything in the field: barcodes on the
actual leader of the video tape? How common is this variation? I
know of numerous placements on the "cassette" but not on the leader
or the tape itself.

Details please; my already made up mindset rejects the idea but I
would like to know the advantages -- my narrowed mind can see
disadvantages.
