We were pleased to learn that a member of the
independent filmmaker community was awarded a MacArthur
"Genius" award this week.

Louis Massiah, producer / director of "W.E.B. Du Bois:
A Biography in Four Voices," "The Bombing of Osage
Avenue," and two of the "Eyes on the Prize" episodes,
was chosen to receive one of the 21 awards, the
foundation announced Monday.

Louis is also the founder and executive director of the
Scribe Video Center which provides low-cost production
workshops to emerging videomakers and community
organizations in Philadelphia. Louis graduated from
Cornell and then went on to receive his M.S. from MIT
before embarking on his career in filmmaking.
Congratulations, Louis!
