Challenges in collecting and using multimedia compel us to
examine new formats. The ability to evaluate and determine
audio, video, and software needs of staff and customers is
essential in providing service in an academic, public, school
or special library.
Delve into complex issues of selection, preservation, and
copyright of multimedia resources. Debate concerns and
implications for library use in the future.
SPEAKER:
RICK PROVINE is the Media Librarian at the University of
Virginia Library. He has developed two meida facilities,
including the Digital Media and Music Center. He holds a BA in
Telecommunications and an MLS from Indiana University. He is
the current Chair of ALA's Video Roundtable and The Association
of College and Research Libraries Media Resource Committee.
JOHN WOODY is director of the Center for Multimedia at James
Madison University. He also serves as an assistant professor
at JMU. He has managed program development for THe Learning
Channel and has taught media production for over 18 years. His
students have won over 26 national awards, including 5 student
Emmys.
