CONJURE WOMAN is a new film by Demetria Royals, videomaker of MAMA'S
PUSHCART: A PORTRAIT OF ELLEN STEWART (founder of LaMama Experimental
Theatre). CONJURE WOMEN is a portrait of four African American women artists
- included are Robbie McCauley, performance artist; Carrie Mae Weems,
photographer; Anita Gonzalez, dancer and choreographer; and Cassandra Wilson,
vocalist and composer.
PRAISE HOUSE by Julie Dash (DAUGHTERS OF THE DUST) is a video portrait of an
Urban Bush Women performance/dance work.
WOMANHOUSE - by Johanna Demetrakis is a classic film about the
performance/installation, WOMANHOUSE by Judy Chicago (creator of The Dinner
Party).
