Back when we stamped date dues on a sticker adhered to the item, we would
simply clean the video when the sticker filled up. When the library went to
printed out date due slips, I made up a yearly schedule for cleaning. We do
two shelf sections a month and everything on the new and special display
shelves every month. Of course we clean any title that we get a complaint
about and there are a few patrons who will ask us to clean their videos
before they take them home. We're happy to do it, but if everybody asked,
we'd be swamped so we try not to let the word get around. This way
everything gets cleaned at least once a year.
