Try to get a copy of "fractint," a shareware fractals program.
It enables you to display numerous KINDS of fractal images, and to
adjust the parameters to alter them. Lots of on-screen documentation.
A terrific program.. and free.
A great video on fractals is "Chaos, Fractals, and Dynamics: Computer Experiments n Mathematicsk" with Robert Devaney.

By the way, my version of FRACTINT is DOS, runs nicely through Windows.
