damaged videos

Hi Tara and friends!

I have a question for you. Have you had any experience with getting
videos damaged in a most peculiar way? Specifically, I have been getting
videos back from patrons that drop to black in a random pattern: short
little intervals, than a bit of the movie, then a period of black again,
all different lengths. The tape itself does not appear physically
damaged. And it has video in fast forward. The audio speed is affected
too - it goes fast and slow in spots as well. I don't think it is 3-M
type damage because it is not in any pattern. It almost looks as if it
were being hit by a modulated electro-magnetic source while in play!

Any clues?
