Hopefully, the latest (and final) draft of the ILL (media materials)
guidelines will be discussed at ALA Midwinter. Video Round Table has
successfully discussed and worked on this issue over the last year or so;
it is now rightfully having the finishing touches worked out by ILL
representatives.
Jim Massey, chair of the PLA AV Committee, has been following the
progress to provide support from the public library point of view -- most
large systems ILL media materials. History, ignorance, fear of losing
this "new, expensive, avant-garde, experimental" medium remains in the
nooks and crannies of "we've always done it this way", even after more
than an decade of experience with video. (There are realistic hitches and
snags on most "popular, heavy used materials"; KCLS will ILL if there are
no pending holds on the item.)
I checked our holdings so I could move on pre-filling the request and
found that it was "LOST" -- anyone know where a replacement copy can be
purchased?
Ralph
