I've been to a few ALA MidWinter Conferences. They're essentially like ALA Annual except relatively fewer programs and perhaps more committee meetings devoted to planning programs for the next Annual. Also no VRT Gala at MidWinter, so the entertainment schedule is less dazzling.

What Institutes? (Sorry, we don't get out of the Cataloging Bunker that much anymore)

Subject: [Videolib] ALA Midwinter Conference.

Has anyone attended this? It says that it is strictly for ALA's 'governing and administative delegates serving on board, committees and Council." Does this mean regular ALA members cannot attend? Also, has anyone been to the Institutes at the Midwinter Meeting?

Thanks.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
