Help! Working with the local Historical Society.

They have the Smithsonian's Between Fences Traveling Exhibit which in described as

"your home and the land on which it stand...settling of the United States, the establishment of its communities, and the building of its borders...In other words. this exhibition is about fences."

What has been requested is a feature film reflecting those parameters that would attract an audience and, of course, is covered under our Movie USA license.

A few quick title thoughts: Open Range, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Big Country, Fantasticks, Rabbit Proof Fence (yeah, I know it's Australian), Boy in the Striped Pajamas and Life Is Beautiful (both concentration camps in Europe), Cheyenne Autumn, and How the West was Won. Not sure these are real crowd pleasers but need to start somewhere <http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0057940/>

Any other ideas much appreciated!

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
