Job Title: Library Intern
Job Location: Chicago, Illinois
Department: Video Library, AnswersMedia, Inc.
Hours per Week: Approx. 3 days/week (24 hours)
Start Date: May 18th, 2009

Description: The Video Library Intern will assist the Video Assets Manager in creating and maintaining a growing library of physical video assets. Duties will include but not be limited to library data entry, tape labeling, logging, fulfilling search requests for staff and organizing video assets. Our library is undergoing a transfer to a computerized database. Other assigned tasks may include research, transcription and basic studio assistance.

The library intern may also be asked to assist with the interactive department. Experience or interest in web development, site testing, internet research or knowledge in CMS, web technologies or programming is a bonus but not essential.

Interns are also required to assist at the front desk answering phones and greeting guests and helping with client services, which includes ordering food, preparing lunches and snacks, and other duties as assigned.

Schedule: This internship will run the duration of the summer. The ideal start time is the week of May 18th and the approximate end time is the end of August. Dates are flexible for the qualified applicant. Interns are expected to have availability 3 days a week from 8:30-5pm.

Minimum Requirements: The ideal candidate will be a detail oriented team player who has a sincere passion for video asset management, a working knowledge of television and/or video production and superb database searching and computer skills. Some experience in a library setting is essential. The library intern may be required to lift up to 20lbs. Applicant must be a current student or recent graduate.

Preferred Requirements: Extra consideration will be given to those with experience in a video library setting and/or current master of library students. Experience with ScheduALL or Nesbit software is a plus. Please do not apply if you are looking for work in production; this is a library internship.

It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries,educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
