I have had the same problem. They do not last long and get lost on the
shelves - between other holdings and patrons complain because they
cannot find them. We are also putting them in the same old
"environmental unfriendly" plastic DVD cases AGAIN.

We have several of these "environmental friendly" DVDs in our
collection. Unfortunately, they are not "library friendly"! They were
torn-apart after the first few check outs. We are putting them now in
the same old "environmental unfriendly" plastic DVD cases.

Subject: [Videolib] "Green" DVD Packaging

Just wanted to ask any libraries or distributors on the use of "green"
DVD packaging. We've noticed a few companies using the new flat, paper
cases for their titles and wanted to know if there were any issues for
libraries in cataloging or storing them, any preferences, etc.=20

Thank you,

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
