A Scenic Design graduate student doing her MFA Thesis has a question about =
copyright. Her thesis project is to design the set for Hair, The Musical. =
This will not be a published project. Her role is to design the set--from=
concept, to initial sketches, to drafting various elevations, to building =
a scale model, to designing projection, to building the actual set. Her qu=
estion is whether or not she has to get permissions to use images/photos of=
the 1950's, 1960's, and early 1970's that she finds on the internet and in=
newspapers and books about the Vietnam era. The musical will be produced =
by undergraduate theatre majors, and there will be six performances for whi=
ch admission will be charged. However, there will be nothing for viewers t=
o take away (except the experience) and she will make no profit from the pr=
oduction. Any help you all can give will be very much appreciated. =20

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
