certainly wouldn't do it for them. What they do with stuff they check out =
of the library, you may not have control over, but I wouldn't teach them =
how to violate copyright. :)

We have students and faculty who want to convert cds onto their MP3 =
players. Is it legal to purchase a cd (musical or otherwise) and convert =
it to an MP3 player? Our stance has always been that there is no =
unauthorized duplication and this is clearly another copy albeit not a =
physical copy.

Thanks!

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of =
issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic =
control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in =
libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve =
as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of =
communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video =
producers and distributors.

From their own CDs...no problem.  From library-owned CDs...big = problem.  I certainly wouldn't do it for them.  What they do = with stuff they check out of the library, you may not have control over, = but I wouldn't teach them how to violate copyright.  :)
