Hi Kathy,
Here are some potential vendors, though some are much more expensive than
others--

Contemporary Arts Media:
http://www.artfilms.com.au/
(based in Australia, but usually has NTSC versions available)

Insight Media:
http://www.insight-media.com/IMHome.htm

ADF Video:
http://www.adfvideo.com/about.html

Rapt Productions:
http://www.raptproductions.com/pages/film.html
("Artists in Exile" is more of a documentary, but features many clips)

Shop PBS:
http://teacher.shop.pbs.org/home/index.jsp
[recent titles of possible interest: Grupo Corpo Brazilian Dance Theatre;
Born to be Wild; Blast; Beyond the Steps: Alvin Ailey Dance Theater; Dancing
in the Light]

Electronic Arts Intermix:
http://eai.org/eai/

Video Data Bank:
http://www.vdb.org/

Open Eye Pictures:
http://www.openeyepictures.com/

Another idea might be to consider some of the commercial videos on newer
types of dance that rarely get classed as "high art," including Krump
(i.e. films like Rize and Battle Night: The Krump Wars).

Hi

Does anyone have good sources for contemporary--I should say--post 80's
dance performance. Not dancing with the stars type stuff, but more stage
performance, experimental, contact improv, etc. Our dance division is
starving for new work to show students.
Thanks,
Kathy

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of
issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic
control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in
libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve
as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel
of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video
producers and distributors.
