I've had pretty good luck buying from Amazon Marketplace for many Spanish-language DVDs, and in fact I did a quick search for Las Abandonadas and found some copies there.  Often these are not Region 1, so you need to have a multi-region player available for your patrons.  You have to watch out for bootlegged copies (I've been burned a few times in the past with Amazon Marketplace sellers!), but I've found some reliable foreign film dealers there.

Um, this group is usually so responsive so I am sending this out again because I saw no replies.

I have an instructor looking for Emilio Fernandez movies from Mexico. Melodramas starring Dolores del Rio. We are looking for titles that will include examples of dance--she suggested Bugambilia and Las Abandonadas. Very few libraries appear to own these. I can see that both titles did make it to DVD but it is from Televisa and I don't know where I can purchase them (or IF).

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
