I've had a request to find some old Mexican films by Emilio Fernandez (Pedro Armendariz is also listed) from the 1940's. Specifically, Bugambilia and Las Abandonadas. I can see that each has been produced on DVD by Televisa or Alter Productions. Does anyone know of a US vendor who might carry these? I did not find them in Facets.

The instructor in question is looking for films that show popular dances--I believe some of her continuing ed students, some older Mexican and Mexican_Americans, recommended these. The descriptions did not sound like musicals....

Muchas gracias!

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
