Hi, Rhonda
=20
There is some original footage, and lots of still photographs, of the
Hopi snake dance taken by Edward Curtis in "COMING TO LIGHT: Edward S.
Curtis and the North American Indians."
www.bullfrogfilms.com/catalog/ctl.html. =20
=20
Curtis wrote that "In reality it is not a dance, but a beautiful
dramatized prayer for rain. If the gods are angry and withhold the rain,
famine and subsequent death stalk the land."
=20
There are also Curtis photographs and a lengthy discussion of the Piegan
Sundance.
=20
All the best,
John Hoskyns-Abrahall
