I don't know about classes for media librarianship, but there has been
a recent addition of various MA film/video archival degrees in the US
this past ten years, including NYU, UCLA, University of Texas,
University of East Texas (the oldest) and my personal favorite, George
Eastman House, which can also be taken as a one-year certificate
program or a masters with either Univ of Rochester or RIT (can't
remember which).

I don't know of any librarians who have done one of these, but I think
it would be incredibly valuable and should be suggested on every media
librarian website.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
