As you may have read, the British Film Institute - one of the truly great
film institutions in the world, an amazing archive, and probably the single
most-important English-language resource for film, is under severe threat of
being forced to "sell" or "outsource" many of its activities.

Much of the information about the struggle is collected on this website,
along with addresses of key people to contact and an online petition:

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
