Gee Gary, none of us distributors would ever suggest
http://handbrake.m0k.org/ which is the easiest I've found...

Seriously, I've used this for clips for our websites, but I edit
through Quicktime Pro which is, as aptly named, very quick.

And for Killer of Sheep videonews: Charles Burnett and Richard Pena
recorded what should be a very good commentary track for the DVD
yesterday. Before the end of July a director's cut (much shorter
actually) of My Brother's Wedding will be accomplished and a stunning
film will be revealed. Only 150 days before box set streetdate!

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
