Subject: [Videolib] digital video interest group?

I've been meaning to ask this question for ages, and now, on the eve =
of ALA, it seems like a good time...

Does VRT or the videolib community include any kind of a 'digital =
video interest group' or 'digital initiatives sub-committee' or some =
such entity? If so, could someone tell me how to join? If not, would =
anyone be interested in participating in such a group? The discussions =
on videolib regarding technical specs, delivery environments, digital =
asset management, tools and techniques are fascinating, but I would love =
to be able to sit down with like-minded colleagues at ALA or other =
venues and discuss targeted topics, perhaps even to define a library =
research agenda for digital video. I'm also an AMIA member, and that =
group does have a large and flourishing digital initiatives committee, =
but I seem to be one of the few media librarian-types in that group, and =
I'd welcome the chance to have these discussions in a library as well as =
an archival setting. =20

So...if there's already such an interest group, where do I sign up? =
If not, would anyone like to help me start one, or be interested in =
participating in any capacity?

------=_NextPart_000_000B_01C7B426.8A0BE220-- VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
