Hi Gary,

=20

The list is outstanding but there are a few I would consider adding.
Even though she only made one film of note, I would consider adding
Leontine Sagan, whose film "Maedchen in Uniform" is a true classic.

=20

Also-Lynn Hershman-Leeson is an important artist who is developing a
growing body of feature film work. Her latest film, Strange Culture,
was well received at Sundance and Berlin.

=20

Finally-I know there will be some groans out there, so get it out of
your system, but Barbra Streisand should be added. She is the first
American woman to be nominated for Best Director by the DGA (Director's
Guild of America), she had a film nominated for Best Picture by the
AMPAS and she is one of a handful of women whose name alone could
greenlight a film project (if she ever decided she wanted to direct
again). =20

=20

My two cents,

Hullo all

Last week I slapped together a videography of feature films by women
directors held by UCB MRC ( I couldn't bear the task of compiling a
similar list of documentaries by women...too too too many).
http://www.lib.berkeley.edu/MRC/womendirectors.html

Let me know if I've left out anyone egregious. (I realized in putting
this together that we don't own any Susan Seidelman
<http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0782384/> -- an oversite we're in the
process of correcting)

Enjoy!=20

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
