We use a note field in the bibliographic record that does not display to
the public to put notes in that pertain to PPR, video streaming,
distance education, and cable-casting. At the same time, I maintain a
spreadsheet which is on a shared location so that staff at the desk that
handle the dvds and vhs titles can check for complete information. Since
only faculty, students and staff can check items out from our library,
this has worked out well for us.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
