Back when there was a request on this list for "Citizen under=20
suspicion" with English subtitles, I started wondering if anyone downloads =

their English subtitles and combines them with a non-subtitled DVD thru a=20
computer player. I see there are several websites devoted to subtitles;=20
the downloadable text files which I've looked at seem unique, i.e. several =

may be listed for one film, but they are not duplicates. This suggests to =

me that they are original work being offered without copyright.
Most computer players let you create a playlist which plays the=20
DVD and follows the timing on the subtitle file.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
