We are a small community library and we also have received request for
seasons. Thus far we have not bought any because we thought it would
open a Pandora's Box. The seasons are expensive and there are so many
of them. We just said no. I guess we should update our selection
policy to reflect this.

Hello:

We are a medium to large public library - 5 branches plus a bookmobile
- in a city of 105,000. We are currently revising our Audio Visual
Selection policy with emphasis on selection of DVD and Video. The
problem we are experiencing is an increase in patron suggestions for
purchase of TV series, i.e. The OC, 24, etc. I would be interested in
how your library handles this. Do you purchase TV series? Do you have
something written in your selection policy to address this problem?

Thank you.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
