We are a 9 branch county system. The headquarters branch had been using
lock boxes. In the past two years we switched to security strips. Some of
our smaller branches use the dummy box system with the DVDs in sleeves
behind the front desk. We lose more DVDs to damage than to theft.

Subject: [Videolib] Open access to DVD collection

Is there a public library out there allowing open access to their DVD
collections - no security.

How did you decide on an acceptable loss rate?

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues
relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control,
preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and
related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective
working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication
between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and
distributors.
