All film studies programs have independent collections from ours...it
just varies whether they're individual personal collections or shared as
departmental...
But the feature films and documentaries taught are a small part of what
we're supporting.

Subject: [Videolib] ok, if ALA doesn't appreciate us . . .

have any academic video librarians out there considered the possiblility
of aligning their collections and themselves (ok, I know they aren't OUR
collections, but it feels that way after a few, um, decades) with the
film departments of their schools, instead of with the Library?
Are there any colleges or universities whose cinema studies programs
have independent video collections?
hmmmm?

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of
issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic
control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in
libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve
as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel
of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video
producers and distributors.
