I started watching a British TV dramatic series called "Skins"=20
which seems devoted to proving the younger generation is more decadent and =

self-absorbed than the declining Romans. It's like 90210 on uppers. You=20
can see the officially sanctioned promos, and possibly more, on YouTube.
Episode 2 focusses on Cassie (Cassandra) who has eating issues.=20
She demonstrates to a friend how she tricks people into missing that she=20
avoids eating, and how she tricks her disinterested pscyhological=20
counsellor. Other scenes directly involving food are when she=20
compulsively organizes food packages (when they are properly stacked,=20
etc., they are no longer threatening to her), and when her food starts=20
sending her messages to eat.
Despite the high T&A quotient (male and female) and the loud=20
soundtrack, this is a really, really good episode dealing with anorexia.=20
The series has been renewed for another set of episodes in the fall. The=20
public opinion is that this will be preceded by a box set of series 1.

Unfortunately, my daughter is reaching the age of these teenage=20
characters, and I think I'd be better off not knowing how the rest of this =

series plays out! There may be more food imagery to come. I don't know.=20
More unfortunately, the earnest young actor from "About a boy" is here=20
playing the chief cad and deviant.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
