[Please excuse cross-postings -- also note that two surveys, one
pertaining to Video Librarianship and the other pertaining to Video
Collections, are being deployed concurrently. These are /different
surveys/ and can both be completed by the same respondents. -- MM]
Greetings,
You are being invited to voluntarily participate in an anonymous survey
conducted through ALA's Video Round Table [VRT] on video librarians,
their work and educational and experiental backgrounds. The purpose of
the study is to collect, and then analyze and summarize this
information. Our hope is that a better understanding in the field of who
video librarians are, the work that they do, and how they came to be
video librarians could result in a more cohesive and active community of
library professionals and could also help to attract potential video
librarians to the field. You are eligible to participate in this survey
if you consider yourself a video librarian, and are currently working in
a library, museum or archive with video materials (DVD, VHS, digital
formats, etc.). If you agree to participate, your participation will
involve completing an online survey on you, your work and your academic
and experiental background. The survey should take no longer than 10
minutes. You may take the survey at any time prior to May 2, 2007.
The analyzed, anonymous results will be shared with the field through
the VideoLib listserv and VRT.
In order to maintain your confidentiality, your name and email address
will not be revealed in any reports that result from this project or
known to anyone other than the primary investigator.
You can access the survey here:

If you would like to view the questions that will be in the survey
before you begin, please view the following webpage:

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
