In case this made anyone wonder...

"The history of rock n roll" has been released on DVD. =20

As for "Rock & Roll," a rep from WGBH said that it was unlikely to ever
be put on DVD. (Something might have been said about the rights costing
roughly the national debt...)

Hi all,

I've had a request to purchase The Golden Age of Rock'n'Roll, a 10
videocassette set, possibly also released as a 5 dvd set. Here's the
only bib record I could find:

The golden age of rock 'n' roll
Grant Johnson; Jon Bauman; John Sebastian; Smokey Robinson; Jackie
Wilson; James Brown; Marvin Gaye; Aretha Franklin; Wilson Pickett;
Otis Redding
1999, (c)1996
English Visual Material : Videorecording : VHS tape 1 videocassette (49
min.) : b&w with col. sequences ; 1/2 in.
Chatsworth, CA : Image Entertainment [distributor,
OCLC: 49243596

Facets lists it as no longer available. It isn't on Image
Entertainment's web site; I've emailed them anyway. I can't find it on
Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Movies Unlimited, Tower, or eBay.

Any suggestions? And does anyone know if it ever was released on dvd?

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of
issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic
control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in
libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve
as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel
of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video
producers and distributors.
