A colleague at the University of Washington asked me to post this announcement for a discussion at ALA Midwinter in Seattle:

Please join us for a presentation by Mona Jimenez, Associate Professor and Associate Director of Moving Image Archiving & Preservation at the Tisch Schoolof the Arts, New York University.

Agenda:

* Mona Jimenez will present the results of a random sample survey of the VHS video collection at the NYU Bobst Library media center. She is one of the authors of an excellent resource, "Videotape Identification and Assessment Guide" available at www.arts.state.tx.us/video/

* Updates on various media preservation projects

* Suggestions for discussion group topics for ALA-Annual in Washington, DC

It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries,educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
