Have you seen an amazing video lately?

Not a feature film, but a video of a performance, an educational title,
or a how-to, geared toward an adult audience. If so, we need you!

In 1998, the Video Round Table established the Notable Videos for Adults
list, as a means of providing
guidance to public and academic librarians involved in building dynamic
and balanced video collections for an adult clientele. The list
recognizes the growing number and enormous diversity of documentaries,
educational and instructional titles, and performance works for adults
available. We hope that librarians will use the lists to help them
identify and select the best offerings in this video marketplace.

Each year a committee comprised of VRT members selects the best fifteen
educational, performance or how-to titles released during the previous
and current calendar years. We need your suggestions! If you are a
librarian and not affiliated with a video producer or distributor, you
can suggest titles for the committee's consideration. You need not be a
VRT member to nominate titles.

Please read the criteria and selection procedures first
http://www.ala.org/ala/vrt/notablevideos/criteria.htm), then fill out
the suggestion form
(http://www.tacoma.washington.edu/library/media/vrt/notable.cfm).

Thanks in advance for your help,

Vicki Nesting, Chair
ALA-VRT Notable Video for Adults Committee

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
