Good afternoon movie catalogers,

I am wondering how you folks are adding the information about SDH to your DVD Bibliographic Records. Is there a LCSH for it that I missed? Is Closed Captioning being eliminated? When people ask about CC should we mention SDH or do you currently recommend subtitled movies when folks ask for CC?

We are adding the SDH information in the notes areas, listing it as one of the subtitles. For example, our Bib Record for Brokeback Mountain has a 546 field with *aLanguages: English, French ; subtitles: English SDH, Spanish, French. Is this similar to how you are doing it?

Thanks for any information you can give me.

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
