[Videolib] disc hub protectors successful?

Good day,
We're considering using disc hub protectors for our DVD collection to indicate ownership and guard against center hole cracking. Now that they've been on the market for a while, does anyone have success stories to share or cautions to offer? Any downside?
Does anyone have barcodes printed on them so the preprinted hub number can be used to circulate materials? Does scanning the center hub work well in circulation workflow?
Thanks,
Joseph

VIDEOLIB is intended to encourage the broad and lively discussion of issues relating to the selection, evaluation, acquisition, bibliographic control, preservation, and use of current and evolving video formats in libraries and related institutions. It is hoped that the list will serve as an effective working tool for video librarians, as well as a channel of communication between libraries, educational institutions, and video producers and distributors.
