I wanted to announce a new job posting for a unique, exciting position
at my library (the University of Delaware Library) that combines video /
multimedia with public service librarianship:

*Description*: The University of Delaware Library seeks a motivated,
service-oriented, professional librarian to serve in the exciting new
position of Coordinator of Multimedia Communications Center Services,
reporting to the Head, Digital User Services Department in the
University of Delaware Library.* *Provide individual as well as group
assistance and instructional support to University students, faculty and
staff using multimedia studios, workstations and classrooms. Supervise
support staff and student assistants and work with the Head, Digital
User Services Department to develop outreach and instructional
activities, policies, and services for multimedia. Work collaboratively

to faculty in the creation and assessment of new teaching approaches
using multimedia and student assignments using the new Multimedia

Demonstrated experience with current multimedia production capabilities
in Windows and/or Macintosh systems using software such as Adobe, Apple

students and staff in an academic setting. Ability to use technology
to meet instructional and public service objectives. Excellent oral and
written communication skills to enable effective instruction to groups
related to the use of multimedia in higher education. Strong public
service orientation. Ability to create and maintain web sites.
Knowledge of trends in librarianship and digital multimedia creation in
order to effectively serve the student population. Ability to
supervise staff and establish and maintain effective working
relationships with diverse individuals in a rapidly evolving multimedia
technology and busy service environment.

*Salary*: Expect to hire at the level of Assistant Librarian, which is
the entering level for academic librarians with 3 years or less of
professional library experience. Salary dependent upon qualifications
and experience with a minimum salary for no professional library
experience beginning at $39,000.

*Benefits*: Excellent benefits with vacation of 22 working days.
TIAA-CREF or Fidelity retirement with 11% of salary contributed by the
University. Tuition remission for dependents and course fee waiver for
