Carmine,
We have a pretty liberal policy toward interlibrary loan which includes =
videos. We have always loaned VHS tapes, but since we're a small institutio=
n, when we first started collecting DVDs, we did not loan them. We felt =
they should be available for our campus community. Now that our collection =
is more extensive, we loan them for one week (not counting mailing/courier =
time). Once in awhile, we have had to recall a video because it was needed =
by one of our faculty members, but that hasn't happened often, and other =
than that, our experience has been surprisingly positive. Once in awhile a =
video is not returned when it should be, but we've never actually lost =
one...so far. Some of our videos have licensing that restricts their use =
to the campus community, and those, of course, are not interlibrary =
loaned.

Hello all,
This is directed at other academic media centers.
The library where I work is considering opening up our media collection to =
inter-library loan from other colleges and universities in our ILL =
consortium. At present we only circulate to our staff, faculty and =
students for a 3 day loan period with up to 3 renewal.
I am very curious to hear who among you do or don't ILL your media items. =
If not, why not? If you do, I'd love to hear your experiences- good, bad =
and ugly.
Thanks for your time and advice,
Carmine
