This is very true. I highly recommend investing in a CD/DVD repair
machine or if the initial cost turns you off use a service. I believe
there is someone on the listserv that provides this service. Rubberdisc
I think?

Note that one other difference with DVDs is that you don't
necessarily need to replace the disc, they can usually be
repaired
for considerably less than replacing, assuming the damage is to
the
surface only.
