I'm not sure which public libraries Gary has used to build his arguments-but they can't be any of the libraries I've worked in or used over the last 25 years. Just as an example, we currently have 33 copies of the latest Harry Potter book in circulation. We have 3 DVDs of the most recent Harry Potter film. Our film collection is about 1/3 fiction/feature films and 2/3 nonfiction (he could find several documentaries on sharks here). Sure we buy Stephen King and Danielle Steel, but you can find multiple copies of the literary classics.

We also provide plenty of materials to help people learn or improve their English, pass tests from the GED to the MCAT or LSAT, find a job, find a scholarship, study almost any subject that interests them...Well, you get the picture. It's all here. And that is as it should be.
