"I would like to see a subject heading of Anime, and will talk to our tech
services head about it."

At the risk of once again offending, I feel I should echo my colleague Mr.
Baldus' observation that under "Anime" in ClassWeb there is a note reading:
"USE Animation (Cinematography)--Japan." Of course one can do whatever one
feels is best in one's own catalog, but this factor may have implications
for libraries involved with shared cataloging databases.

In any case, Anime seems like more of a genre term, so I'd be tempted to use
it in a 655 field with a second indicator 4--unless it's listed in GSAFD or
some other identifiable list of genre terms. It seems as if Anime should be
a genre term or a subject heading since it's in such wide usage, but then in
Library of Congress Subject Heading land, "Rap (Music)" is used for Hip-hop
music instead of being a narrower term thereof.

Apparently we are using 'animated films - Japan - videorecordings." I would
like to see a subject heading of Anime, and will talk to our tech services
head about it.

Does anyone use a specific subject heading for anime other than just
"animated films." I would like to be able to pull up this category in a
search, but our catalogers say there isn't anything to use to differentiate.
