Or the short- or long-term library budget tolerance. I'm sure my library
director will think I'm nuts if in 2 years I start the sentence "Remember
all that money I asked for to replace our VHS with DVD..."

I was certainly at least half-kidding about finding a new job. But are we
going to find ourselves in the same fix that serials librarians find
themselves in as far as managing licensing aggreements rather than
actually purchasing anything and wondering if our online content is stable
and reliable enough to toss our "old" DVDs?

Though we'll probably always have a range of technologies we'll be
supporting. Still have people wandering around asking for VHS. And still
have a few LaserDiscs.

Tom

Remember quadrophonic sound and how it chased stereo from the marketplace?
Or DAT? About that much.
