To Pamela Bruce: The first thing I'd do is suggest that the student work on
her spelling (liscensing???? atend? sabatical? shoings?) as an important
part of a college education and let her mom work as an attorney rather than a
babysitter to a spoiled brat. I went to Carleton myself and I've been trying
to imagine anyone in the late 60s/early 70s siccing her mom on the
administration. First of all, I think the administration would have laughed us out of
town. And, second, we would have had more pride (and quite a lot more spunk)
than to whine to Mommy to get our way. The student seems to be setting
herself up as a quasi-"instructor" to get around the copyright laws. She's young
and not yet fully educated, but what her mother's excuse for spouting dubious
legal opinions and "rescuing" an adult college student might be is beyond
me. Good luck! Jocelyn Riley, HerOwnWords.com
