PCFL wins Human Rights Videos
The Pocahontas County Free Libraries was chosen as one of 50 public
libraries around the country to receive free videos and support from a
joint project of the American Library Association and National Video
Resources. They will receive 12 videos on human rights topics such as
rights to education,
disability rights, U.S. immigration and political asylum, and the prison
industry in the U.S.
The videos will become part of PCFL's new Pearl S. Buck E Pluribus Unum
collection, and will be available to patrons at all four branches. PCFL
plans on creating a
monthly video discussion group as part of its Pearl Buck collection
programming. The West
Virginia Chapter of the National Association of Human Rights Workers
(NAHRW) will be a
partner with PCFL in this program. Susan
Hayden, adult programming consultant at WVLC, worked with VISTA
volunteer James Bush to write the proposal for the award, worth at least

$ 1,000. For more info on the project check their website at:
http://www.humanrightsproject.org/. PCFL was chosen as one of the three
model public libraries in the country in 2003 by IMLS, the federal
agency that funds public libraries and museums. To learn more about the
