Please send me your responses to: fesenms@wvlc.lib.wv.us

One of our libraries screened BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE last year. Now a
local man wants them to show a new film made by a group, Jews for Gun
Ownership. I sent the librarian a copy of the ALA Freedom to View
statement. Does anyone have a more elaborate policy for showing
controversial films.

I told him that as director of Film Services 1978-99, I refused to
purchase films that generated HATE for a particular group, e.g., a
Baptist film aimed at showing the "evils of Mormonism."

Thanks for the input. - Steve Fesenmaier
