We have circulated our videos and DVD's since the collection started 18 years
ago. We have lost a few videos over the years, but at no greater rate than the
book loss has been. We currently have videos and DVD's on open shelves. Only
the DVD's have security cases, if they didn't the loss rate would be much
higher. All our patrons like browsing the stacks and faculty have learned that
if they want a video to use in class, they need to put it on reserve or check
it out in advance. Our collection has about 3,000 titles. There is a one week
checkout period for these items for both students and faculty.

We have had a positive response to open shelves, especially from students who
are suprised that we have "fun" items.
