The Stone Reader to Premiere in Flatwoods

Susan Hayden, WVLC literacy consultant, will introduce one of the best
films of 2003 as part of the spring state library conference. On
Thursday, March 25th, at 3 PM at the Days’ Inn in Flatwoods, the film
will be shown to librarians. “The Stone Reader” was a phenomenal
success in the world of readers – since it’s about a man who is truly
obsessed with a book he had read decades ago. The book is called “The
Stones of Summer” and the filmmaker, Mark Moskovitz, visited libraries,
scholars, and friends to track down the author, Dow Mossman. Linda
Duchin, from New Yorker Films, gave us permission to show at this annual
library conference. Mr. Moskovitz will be donating several autographed
copies of his special 3-disk version of the film to the conference. If
you want to see the film, buy a copy from Amazon.com or whereever. If
you want to learn more about the film, or purchase the special 3-disk
version, check out the website at:
http://www.stonereader.net/thefilm.html. If you would like to show the
film to a group – a classroom, a community group, etc., contact Linda
Duchin at New Yorker Films, linda.duchin@newyorkerfilms.com.
