Lisa,
Unfortunately, media librarianship is one of those specializations where you
must find your own way. It seems like everyone has used a different method
to get in the door. I did it by supplementing the almost nonexistent media
coursework at my library school with practicums and internships, then moved
halfway across the country because that's where the job was.
A few years ago I wrote an essay about the state of media librarianship
which some have called pessimistic. I think it's realistic, and has been
backed by those who've spent years in the field:

Having sounded gloomy, I want to stress that the work itself is very
rewarding and well worth pursuing if you're passionate about it.

I was hoping someone could help me. I am trying to get information on the
best steps to take in becoming a Video Librarian. I have my M.L.I.S and am
currently working in a para professional position in a video library. Do I
need a second masters? Any help would be appreciated. I just want some leads
on how to become one either academic or public library.
Thank you.
Tracy
